Employment

Our team members don’t just provide care to west Louisville, they live there too. Approximately 700 of our employees live in west Louisville, and we are committed to making more opportunities available for the community.

Central High School

UofL Health wants to inspire future health care workers. To do this, we’re partnering with Central High School’s pre-medical magnet program. Together, with JCPS, our physicians, nurses and other medical professionals are helping shape the curriculum. Students have the opportunity to volunteer in our facilities for firsthand experience in various medical careers.

Pulse of Surgery

For more than 10 years, UofL Health – Jewish Hospital has partnered with the Kentucky Science Center to broadcast heart surgeries into schools across Kentucky and southern Indiana. More than 50 schools take part in this educational experience, including Central and Shawnee high schools. Students don’t just watch the surgery, they also interact with medical professionals during the surgery.

Recruitment

UofL Health continues to actively recruit more providers, with a particular emphasis on primary care.

Future Healers

This outreach program is focused on building stronger bridges between the Louisville health care community and our city’s youth most impacted by gun violence. Our goal is to introduce more youth to the field of medicine while helping them navigate through the emotional trauma that stems from the increasing violence currently plaguing their communities.

We Got Next Mentoring

We Got Next strives to build positivity, confidence and self-esteem by encouraging our mentees to be Cheerful Givers, Hard Workers and Overcomers. With the help of partners around the community, we aim to empower our kids to achieve whatever they set their minds to by providing them with opportunities to be mentored by other high achievers from the area. Our program is complemented by coming together on the third Saturday of each month to play sports, socialize and, most importantly, have fun! Questions? Contact us at WeGotNextMentoring@gmail.com.
