UofL Health, Inc. is 501(c)(3) a nonprofit corporation is governed by an independent Board of Directors and is a related organization (as defined under 42 CFR 413.17) with the University of Louisville’s School of Medicine.  UofL Health, Inc., on behalf of its teaching hospitals and providers, entered into academic affiliation agreement with the University of Louisville in which the University of Louisville agreed that its Health Sciences Center would be the academic partner with UofL Health, Inc. to maintain and enhance the University of Louisville’s affiliated graduate medical education as well as its research in medicine, dentistry, nursing and public health. 

UofL Health’s medical school faculty are crucial to advancing academic medicine's mission of providing high-quality, patient-centered health care; training the next generation of physicians; and conducting research to inform advancement and innovation in health care delivery.

Our University of Louisville academic physicians lead the way to medical advancements through research in laboratories, at the bedside, and in the community. They are responsible for educating not only medical students and physicians in training but also practicing physicians through lectures, journal publications, and conferences that disseminate cutting-edge medical knowledge broadly. In addition, physicians at UofL Health are often the last vestiges of hope for people with inexplicable or complicated medical problems.

University of Louisville School of Medicine

Established in 1837, the University of Louisville School of Medicine is a vibrant institution with a proud heritage as one of the most comprehensive medical schools in the southeastern United States. Under the leadership of Dean Toni M. Ganzel, MD, MBA, FACS, the school continues to educate some of the nation's finest medical practitioners and has graduated more doctors than any other institution in the state. On its metropolitan Health Sciences Center campus, more than 600 medical students, 275 graduate students, and 1,000 resident physicians and post-doctoral fellows train each year with approximately 900 faculty members in 5 basic science and 18 clinical science departments. The School of Medicine has been recognized for its commitment to health equity, research and high level of student engagement and satisfaction.
