Recipe for Spiced Pears

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe pears, halved
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (or a combination of both)
  • 3 Tablespoons raisins or dried craisins (or a combination of both)
  • ½ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice
  • 3 Tablespoons orange juice
  • ½-3/4 teaspoon cornstarch

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, add OJ and mix in cornstarch. Microwave at 15-second intervals, stirring the mixture in between until it thickens
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together nuts, dried fruit, pumpkin spice and orange juice mixture
  4. Using a spoon, scoop out the seeds of the pears
  5. Add ¼ of the nut/dried fruit mixture to the innard of each pear
  6. Place in oven and bake for 20-25 minutes
