Purpose:

The Medical Observership Program (MOP) provides an experiential learning opportunity for a physician to directly observe a UofL Health physician in the practice setting

Participant Requirements:

The MOP is designed for providers who have successfully completed medical school and are a licensed physician. Additional applicant requirements include:

  1. Proof of UofL Health required immunizations
    • MMR
    • Tdap
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • TB Test (dated within 12 months of the END of the rotation)
    • Influenza (for rotations November – March)
  2. Curriculum Vitae and/or Resume
  3. Letter of recommendation from a supervising physician
  4. Agreement of participant expectations and behavioral standards
  5. Signed Acknowledgement Page following review of the Non-Employee Handbook
  6. Successful payment of the $250 program application fee. You can access payment instructions here
  7. For international applicants: TOEFL score of 79 or higher for internet-based exams, or 550 or higher for paper-based exams; OR Occupational English Test (OET) scores of 300 or higher in written exams, 350 or higher in listening, reading, and speaking. Results are valid for two years from the date of the test.

Program Activities & Expectations:

MOP participants will be expected to adhere to operating within program guidelines and behavioral expectations.

  1. Rotations will be a maximum of 4 weeks per clinical specialty. Settings may include clinic, acute care, and procedural areas
  2. Rotations are observation only. Applicants will not have unsupervised interaction or direct physical contact with patients
  3. MOP participants will not be granted access to the electronic medical record

Applications will be open year-round, and will be submitted HERE

  1. Applicants must submit at least 60 days prior to the start of the observation period to allow for application processing and placement confirmation
  2. Applicants will be placed in specific clinical specialty observations based on a first-come, first-served basis. In the event the applicant’s first choice of placement is not available, alternative rotation settings will be offered
  3. UofL Health retains the right to end a MOP rotation if a violation of expectations occurs
