Built on the world-renowned legacy of 40 medical heart firsts at Jewish Hospital, the new UofL Health - Heart Hospital stitches together comprehensive heart services into one central location to heal, revive, protect and even replace hearts. The Heart Hospital’s CVICU/Open Heart Recovery is a 17-bed ICU that serves a highly acute cardiothoracic surgical patient population. These patients have complex care needs requiring multi-model device management including mechanical circulatory support, continuous renal replacement and cardiogenic shock. Our patient population spans from emergent CABG, to heart and lung transplant, dissecting aortic aneurysm repair and ventricular assist device placement and management. A cardiovascular operating room that specializes in cutting-edge open-heart procedures. The CVOR is comprised of five dedicated ORs and an additional hybrid OR caring for medically complex patients and serving as both a regional and multi-state referral center. Recently our Heart Hospital completed the first combined heart and liver transplant in Kentucky, and the first total artificial heart implantation in a female patient in the world. Come join our Heart Hospital cath lab with state-of-the-art imaging technology with six dedicated labs. This highly complex environment comprised of an experienced cardiac catheterization team serves as the largest cath lab in the Louisville community. Our team works with multi-model cardiac devices that include mechanical circulatory support (Impella, ECMO, VADs, Balloon pump, PA catheter insertion and management) to provide world class care. Rising 15-stories above downtown Louisville, the hospital boasts six dedicated cardiac cath labs, two hybrid operating rooms, three electrophysiology labs and five cardiac operating rooms collectively equipped for TAVR, WATCHMAN FLX™ and heart transplants.
With more than 100 beds dedicated to heart patients, we are looking for experienced cardiovascular nurses, including the cath lab, CVOR, open heart recovery and CVICU, who:
