  • Participation in an evidence-based practice project

Who is a Nurse Resident?

A nurse resident is a member of the nursing staff at UofL Health. Eligible candidates for the NRP include those who have graduated from an accredited academic program providing the master, bachelor, or associate of nursing degree, are serving in their first nursing role, or are within 12-months of obtaining their degree.

What does a Nurse Resident do?

As fully licensed registered nurses by the Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN), nurse residents receive hospital, nursing, and specialty (unit-based) orientation. They are prepared to provide safe and caring patient care as outline in the Scope and Standards for Registered Nursing Practice by the American Nurses Association and the KBN.
