The Spinal Cord Medicine Program at UofL Health - Frazier Rehab Institute provides innovative, world-class treatment to those affected with spinal cord impairments resulting from trauma, disease or congenital abnormalities. Within the same facility in downtown Louisville, Frazier Rehab houses the following programs available to individuals with spinal cord injury:

Frazier Rehab Institute’s Spinal Cord Medicine Program is one of the nation’s leading rehabilitation programs providing comprehensive treatment utilizing state-of-the-art technologies designed to maximize functional recovery and independence. Our transdisciplinary approach bridges levels of care that empower patients, the workforce, and the community to prevent complications experienced by people living with spinal cord injury.

Diagnoses treated in our Spinal Cord Medicine Program include, but are not limited to:

  • Traumatic & Non-Traumatic Spinal Cord Injuries
  • Spina Bifida
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Guillain-Barre
  • ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease)
  • Polio/ Post Polio Syndrome

Outpatient Rehab:

  • Provided over 285 outpatient therapy evaluations for individuals with spinal cord injury
  • Average number of total therapy sessions (Physical, Occupational, Speech) - 70 sessions
  • 40 pediatric outpatients with spinal cord injury

Inpatient Rehab:

  • Total number of patients treated - 262
    • Traumatic patients - 40%
    • Non-traumatic patients - 60%
