The UofL Health – Frazier Rehabilitation Institute – Kosair for Kids Pediatric Center, conveniently located on the UofL Health – Mary & Elizabeth Hospital campus, is expertly staffed with a multidisciplinary team that offers outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapies for children from infancy to age 21.

The multidisciplinary team specializes in treating those with a full spectrum of diagnoses, including:

Focusing on neurodiversity-affirming care, the team at the Kosair for Kids Pediatric Center collaborates with families, schools and other medical professionals to support patients through an episodic model.

The Kosair for Kids Pediatric Center is equipped with some of the latest technology, including Bioness technologies for cognitive and motor engagement and function as well as multiple communication support, such as augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

Complete with a Snoezelen room, which provides a therapeutic sensory experience with light, color and sound, and an indoor sensory gym and play structures, the state-of-the-art clinic provides opportunities for children of all ages and abilities to improve function through therapeutic play.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy has several benefits for pediatric patients. Physical therapists can focus on:

  • Facilitating motor development and function
  • Improving strength and endurance
  • Enhancing mobility
  • Boosting ability to play and learn
  • Fostering age-appropriate independence

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy helps children work toward completing everyday activities. Our occupational therapists work with children to:

  • Promote the development of fine, visual and gross motor skills
  • Improve self-regulatory behaviors and sensory processing
  • Strengthen upper extremities to address difficulties with fine motor skills

Speech Therapy

Speech therapists are experts in improving speech and swallowing skills. Speech therapy helps children to:

  • Acquire communication and speech skills
  • Validate and develop other methods of expression
  • Develop attention, memory and information-processing functions
  • Address feeding or swallowing issues
