When a patient experiencing addiction is admitted to UofL Health – UofL Hospital, one of the first teams they will meet with are the Addiction Program Social Workers. Prepared with robust addiction treatment knowledge, the Addiction Program Social Workers pride themselves on their experience and capability to treat patients experiencing addiction requiring varying complexities of care. Their goal is to meet patients where they are currently with their addiction, and work to connect patients with substance abuse treatment services and care options before the patients are discharged. Addiction Social Workers utilize evidence-based practices combined with trauma-informed care to meet the specific psychosocial needs that must be addressed with their current addiction.
The Addiction Program Social Workers have extensive experience in the field of substance use disorders and have established connections and relationships with many addiction treatment facilities throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana. These existing relationships are pivotal in allowing the Addiction Program Social Workers to connect patients to an appropriate level of care based on the personalized needs of the patient. Every case and every patient are different, and the Addiction Social Workers strive to connect patients to resources and referrals for substance use disorders and mental health services both during and after discharge from UofL Health – UofL Hospital.
