A $50,000 grant from Susan G. Komen Kentucky will assist patients at UofL Health – Brown Cancer Center. The funds will help breast cancer patients meet other life expenses to better ensure continuity of care for cancer treatment.

“When cancer treatment begins, the burden of life expenses does not go away,” said Dr. Beth Riley, breast medical oncologist and deputy director of health affairs with Brown Cancer Center. “With the generosity of Susan G. Komen, we hope to ease concerns on financial burdens such as transportation, housing, food, and childcare. This allows patients and their families to focus on facing cancer.”

For more than 30 years, the Brown Cancer Center has focused on delivering advanced cancer care with compassion and respect. As an academic cancer center, physicians and researchers are developing new treatments and cures for cancer. Our team is committed to making sure cancer care remains accessible.

Patients can access the funds by working through the M. Krista Loyd Resource Center at the Brown Cancer Center. Initial assistance grants have already been awarded to individual patients and will continue benefiting others through October of 2021.
