LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UofL Health has achieved a milestone in delivery of telehealth appointments with 30,000 telehealth patient appointments being held since the beginning of March and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Utilizing telehealth to improve patient access was always in our plans for 2020, but with the pandemic we expedited our efforts so we could continue to see our patients safely while they were social distancing at home,” said Wade Mitzel, chief operating officer, UofL Physicians.
UofL Health – Telehealth gained quick support among both our patients and providers, with more than 675 providers adapting their processes and innovating new ways to care for their patients utilizing technology.
“We celebrate this 30,000 milestone with our patients,” said Krista Kane, executive director. “It was new for them too, but benefits outweighed any concern over the new process. Logging on for an appointment from their own home with no traffic, no wait and no concern about social distancing or wearing a mask. It really couldn’t be any easier.”
To see a UofL Physicians provider via telelhealth patients only need to call 502-588-4343 to schedule an appointment.
UofL Physicians practices are now fully open for in-person visits, but the popularity of telehealth means it will remain an option for appropriate visits into the future. “This model has really taken off and has been very effective for providing expert, holistic and efficient care to these patients,” said Mitzel. “Meeting this milestone of 30,000 telehealth appointments is an accomplishment to be proud of but what is so exciting is the future of telehealth for UofL Health.”
