LOUISVILLE, Ky. – UofL Health – Peace Hospital has appointed Stephen Taylor, MD, PLLC to the position of chief medical officer. Taylor will also serve as a member of UofL Health’s senior leadership team.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to be able to work with the outstanding team at Peace Hospital again,” Taylor said. “I look forward to helping them continue to provide our community, and the greater region, with the most comprehensive array of psychiatric treatment and substance abuse services in the state.”

Taylor previously was in private practice at River City Psychiatry since September 2017, where he combined medication management and psychotherapy. During that time, he completed a two-year course in advanced psychotherapy at the Cincinnati Psychoanalytic Institute and is currently a candidate in psychoanalysis at the Cincinnati Psychoanalytic Institute.

Prior to River City Psychiatry, Taylor was medical director of Peace Counseling, part of KentuckyOne Health. He served as a psycho-pharmacologist conducting medication management for various psychiatric conditions, performed more than 6,000 ECT treatments and provided care for both outpatients and inpatients from Peace Hospital.

Taylor also served as gratis faculty at the University of Louisville, and as a member of the executive faculty. In 2013, he received a certificate of excellence in teaching medical students and residents and received the University of Louisville School of Medicine’s teaching award in 2012.

Taylor was born in Kansas City, raised in Mississippi, and moved to Louisville in 1986. He is a 2002 graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
