Auras Atreya, M.D., MPH

Auras Atreya, M.D., MPH, is a board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist who has joined the University of Louisville School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. He completed his fellowships in cardiac electrophysiology and interventional cardiology at the University of Michigan Medical School and thereafter worked at AIG Institute of Cardiac Sciences in India followed by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he spearheaded the Ventricular Tachycardia Ablation Program. Dr. Atreya received his medical degree, with distinction, from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, India, in 2009. He then completed a research fellowship at the University of Michigan Center for Arrhythmia Research (Ann Arbor, MI) followed by internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate (Springfield, MA). He also earned a Master's of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Atreya has a particular interest in advanced catheter ablation for ventricular arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation, particularly in higher risk heart failure populations. In addition, he has expertise in cardiac device (pacemaker/defibrillator) implantation, lead extraction and left atrial appendage occlusion. He has several peer-reviewed publications, has authored book chapters and serves on editorial committees of journals.
