Sarah Khayat, M.D. is proud to call herself a Louisville native. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Louisville, after gaining admission to the Guaranteed Entrance to Medical School (GEMS) program right out of DuPont Manual High School. She then went on to complete her medical degree at the University of Louisville, where she was accepted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She found a passion for head and neck anatomy and Otolaryngology in particular and upon applying to Otolaryngology residency, was accepted at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

"I strive to provide timely, meticulous, and compassionate care to all my patients and to help them actualize their goals through surgical and nonsurgical means. Although surgery is oftentimes a definitive treatment option, I recognize and acknowledge the importance of non-surgical approaches to achieve quality patient outcomes while respecting patient wishes. I am committed to embark on the journey of healing and recovery with my patients until both my patients and I are satisfied with the outcome. The physician-patient relationship is one I do not take lightly and with that comes the recognition that no two patients are the same. Customized care is of paramount importance."

More About Dr. Khayat

Throughout residency, Dr. Khayat has distinguished herself as a diligent resident and a team player for which she was nominated and elected by senior faculty to serve as Chief Resident during het final year of residency. She has worked closely with various facial plastic and reconstructive surgery faculty at UIC, including with renowned facial plastic surgeon Dr. Dean Toriumi both in the operating room and through various avenues of research which led to multiple publications.

Dr. Khayat continued her training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery under the auspices of Castle Connolly Top Doctor Dr. P. Daniel Ward in Salt Lake City, Utah where she performed surgical and nonsurgical procedures in all facets of Facial Plastic Surgery. She has given multiple oral presentations at prominent Otolaryngology conferences throughout the country and published her research in several noteworthy ENT journals. She is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (AAOHNS), Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (AOA) and the Triological Society. In her free time, she enjoys running after her toddler, traveling internationally, reading, running, hiking and exploring all the foodie havens that Louisville has to offer.

I saw Dr. Kayat seeking a second opinion about a tumor on the left side of my neck in the region of my jawbone. She said what I have is rare and referred me to Dr. Townsend at UL downtown Louisville. Dr. Kayat was thorough with examining me and also ordered a CT scan before I see Dr. Townsend. She was pleasant during my visit.
