University of Louisville School of Dentistry’s Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery section features renowned surgeons who not only practice but have been responsible for educating many of the oral and maxillofacial surgeons in this region as well as surgeons throughout the nation.

They offer a complete spectrum of both routine and special care from the removal of teeth under general anesthesia, placement of dental implants, repair of facial and jawbone fractures and surgery of facial and jaw deformities to complex tumor ablation, jaw and TMJ reconstruction.

The surgeons provide facial trauma coverage for the Level 1 trauma centers for adults at UofL Health – UofL Hospital and children at Norton Children's Hospital.

The most complex facial injuries in this region are treated at these facilities by UofL surgeons.

They are the "go-to" surgeons for complex diagnostic and therapeutic problems in this area of the country. Indeed, over 70% of their referrals for care come from other oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

A unique feature of this practice is the ability to offer both surgical and restorative aspects of complex dental/implant rehabilitation with multiple specialists being involved in the same facility during the same procedure, an obvious advantage when sophisticated multidisciplinary care is required.
