Since 2022, UofL Health – Stroke, a part of UofL Health – Brain & Spine Institute, has hosted an inspiring evening dedicated to honoring stroke survivors and the caregivers who stand beside them. This special event brings together patients, families and care team members to share powerful stories of resilience and recovery. It’s a night of hope, healing and heartfelt reunions with those who received care, those who provided it and others who’ve walked a similar path.
Featured Survivor: Amy Hobbs
For Amy Hobbs, July 2021 started like any other summer day. She stepped outside with her dog, not knowing her life was about to change forever. In an instant, she dropped her phone and cup. When she bent down to pick them up, her hand wouldn’t move. When her son rushed over and asked if she was okay, she couldn’t respond.
Amy had no risk factors for stroke. No high cholesterol, high blood pressure or diabetes. But that day, her family’s quick action saved her life.
