The UofL Health – South Hospital "Heart of the Community" award recognizes an individual or individuals who live or work in Bullitt County who demonstrate a sustained commitment to the community through impactful volunteerism, active participation in local initiatives, fostering positive relationships and making a significant difference in the lives of others, often going above and beyond without seeking recognition. Key criteria include a combination or one of the following:

  • Consistent community involvement
  • Positive influence on others
  • Dedication to addressing local needs
  • Support of local health initiatives
  • Leadership qualities
  • A reputation for selfless service

Common factors include:

  • Extensive volunteer work:
    • Demonstrating a significant amount of time dedicated to volunteering in various community projects and organizations.

  • Leadership roles:
    • Taking initiative and actively leading community initiatives, projects or groups.
  • Positive impact on community:
    • Showing tangible positive outcomes resulting from their efforts, such as improved quality of life for residents or addressing specific community challenges.
  • Collaboration and partnership building:
    • Actively working with other organizations and individuals to achieve broader community goals.
  • Community awareness and engagement:
    • Promoting community events, initiatives and issues to increase public participation.
  • Unsung hero aspect:
    • Often awarded to individuals who may not be widely recognized for their significant contributions.

To nominate an individual(s) for the UofL Health – South Hospital “Heart of the Community” award, please complete the following form. Nominations should be submitted by Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Recipient(s) of the award will be recognized at the “Healthy Hearts Wear Red” Luncheon on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Paroquet Springs Conference Center in Shepherdsville, Ky.
