Substance Use and Other Mental Health Services
If necessary, take emergency steps to get help, such as calling 988. When someone is in a suicidal crisis, it is important to limit access to firearms or other potential tools for committing suicide, including prescription and over-the-counter medications. An important step in helping to prevent suicide, in any age group, is getting involved.

Process of Grief
All relationships are unique so all grief experiences will be slightly different. Years ago, grief professionals would refer to Kubler-Ross’s 5 stage model of grief. Over the years other theories have emerged such as J. William Worden’s (2009) 4 tasks of mourning:
- To Accept the Reality of the Loss
- To Work Through the Pain of Grief
- To Adjust to an Environment in which the Deceased is Missing
- To Find an Enduring Connection with the Deceased While Embarking on a New Life
