Nurse Extern Information Sessions
Learn more about the UofL Health Nurse Extern Program, our summer-intensive program for nursing students. Under the direct supervision of an RN preceptor, you will spend eight weeks being directly immersed and precepted in the role of an RN. During this program, you will refine skills such as:
- Physical assessment
- Medication administration
- Documentation
- Clinical reasoning
Performs all skills under the direct supervision of an RN preceptor.
Eligibility for application includes:
- Actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program
- 3.0 GPA
- Completed nursing fundamentals
- Two letters of recommendation from nursing facility
- Resume
- Exemplar on goals participation/cover letter
- Successful interview
- BLS for Healthcare Provider
