UofL Health – Frazier Rehab Institute – Hand Therapy brings comprehensive care to patients with acute or chronic issues relating to the hand, wrist, elbow or shoulder through a combination of rehabilitation and custom orthotic application. These services are provided by our team of specialized therapists including occupational therapists, physical therapists, physical therapy assistants and certified orthotic fitters. We utilize a collaborative team process to gain optimal outcomes for patients of all ages.

Certified Hand Therapists (CHT), credentialed through the Hand Therapy Certification Commission, are trained and ready to work with patients. A CHT is an occupational therapist or physical therapist that has specialized in hand therapy and has a minimum of five years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct hand therapy practice. In addition, the Certified Hand Therapist has successfully passed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper quarter rehabilitation. The Certified Hand Therapist credential offers assurance to the public that the physical/occupational therapist has achieved the highest level of competency in the profession and stays up to date with practice within the field.
