Overview
Sexual health is a huge part of general health for many women. All women should have access to knowledge and information regarding their own sexual health and pleasure. Sexual health is complex and involves many factors of female function including psychological, environmental, hormonal, medical, physiological, social and relational areas of functioning.
Sexual dysfunction is a common issue that many women endure, and it can feel extremely debilitating at times. However, there are a variety of customizable treatment options that can help lead to healthier sexual regulation. The UofL Physicians – Women’s Sexual Health Clinic provides women with the resources they need to combat sexual dysfunction.
The UofL Physicians – Women’s Sexual Health Clinic works to treat the following areas of sexual dysfunction:
- Pain with Intercourse
- Pain with vaginal penetration
- Vaginal dryness
- Lack of or decreased libido
- Lack of or decreased orgasm
- Vaginismus
- Menopausal Symptoms
- Dysfunction following cancer diagnosis/treatment
Our team at the UofL Physicians – Women’s Sexual Health Clinic is dedicated to helping cancer patients as well, particularly those diagnosed with gynecologic, breast or colorectal cancers who received radiation to the pelvis or chemotherapy.
Treatment Options
A list of treatment options may include:
- Vaginal dilator use
- Lubricant and vaginal moisturizer use
- Vibrators and other sexual wellness devices
- Hormonal therapy
