Morgan Bell, R.N., was recognized Jan. 15 with the DAISY Award as an extraordinary nurse. Morgan has worked on the labor and delivery unit for eight years.

The following nomination was received from a patient recognizing Morgan as an extraordinary nurse:

I was transferred to the Labor and Delivery Unit as a high-risk obstetrics patient with imminent delivery. This was my first pregnancy and I did not know what to expect. We were unprepared and had lots of questions. All we knew was that I would most likely deliver within 48 hours and our baby may or may not survive.

Fortunately, the baby did not deliver within 48 hours and the monitoring process continued. We had multiple discussions about what was best for the baby and myself. During these times, Morgan Bell, RN, would come into our room, sit, listen, tell us what she heard us say and continue to review the options available to us. During on our stay, our gender reveal party was scheduled to occur. When Morgan became aware of this, she reserved a conference room and assisted us in having the gender reveal party as planned.

Morgan is a nurse who wears many hats. She always ensures that her patients get the best care. Even when Morgan wasn’t my nurse, she would come and sit to answer questions and talk about available options. We were blessed beyond measure to have a nurse as patient, knowledgeable, caring and amazing as Morgan. We cannot thank you enough. We fondly remember Morgan and I’m sure we always will.
