UofL Physicians is expanding its urgent care presence in the Greater Louisville area. Five new urgent care centers branded as UofL Physicians – Urgent Care Plus will be opening over the next several months. On Dec. 21, a location opened on the first floor of UofL Health – Medical Center Northeast in eastern Jefferson County off Old Henry Road and I-265/Gene Snyder. Another location is scheduled to open in Bullitt County on Cedar Grove Road at the entrance to the Cedar Grove Business Park on Jan. 4.

An existing urgent care practice is located at 908 Dupont Road in St. Matthews. Also planned are Urgent Care Plus locations at the intersection of Hurstbourne Lane/Shelbyville Road, in the West End and along the Dixie Highway corridor.

According to Christina John, director of clinical operations at UofL Physicians, the locations for the centers are strategically chosen to complement our primary care locations, support our hospitals and Medical Centers, increase referrals into the UofL Health system and better serve patients in our community. In addition to urgent care, all the Urgent Care Plus locations will offer occupational medicine services including DOT (Department of Transportation) physicals and drug testing. Eventually, other services will be added such as behavioral health and specialty timeshares.

The urgent care locations will all operate on a consistent schedule of 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. If desired, patients will be able to “sign-in” in advance online through MyChart, and arrive at a pre-determined time. The Urgent Care Plus locations are an extension of UofL Physicians primary care services, and patients receiving care at the center will pay the same as they would for a routine primary care office visit.
