Revision surgery might be considered if the patient:
- Did not achieve adequate weight loss or is regaining weight despite following recommended lifestyle changes
- Has medical conditions that returned or did not improve
- Has complications following bariatric surgery that require corrective surgery
Common revision surgeries:
- Laparoscopic adjustable gastric band removal (with or without revision to another bariatric procedure)
- Gastric sleeve revision (including conversion to gastric bypass)
- Gastric bypass revision/reversal
- BPD-DS revision/reversal
- Vertical Banded Gastroplasty revision/reversal
- Laparoscopic adjustable gastric band removal +/- conversion to another bariatric procedure
- Sleeve gastrectomy conversion to gastric bypass
- Revisional surgery for weight regain
- Revisional surgery to correct a complication from prior surgery
- Reversal of prior bariatric surgery
