I saw Sandra Utsey to be evaluated on my progress of being weaned from Benzodiazepine withdrawal and Hypertension. It's my understanding that a NP cannot write prescriptions for controlled substances, and perhaps that is an issue in the way I've thought about the way I was treated by her. She dominated our time together by providing information regarding how dangerous Diazepam and Cyclobenzaprine are to older people. Initially, she didn't let me tell her I held a professional degree myself and already knew what she was emphasizing to me in the way of treatment. I found her obviously knowledgeable of medical issues, but saw no need to discover other aspects of the person she was treating. Finally I was successful in getting her to listen to the brief information about myself I wanted her to know, but it wasn't easy to accomplish. I left the office frustrated and upset by the way I was treated. I now consider Sandra Utsey to be a potentially dangerous person to be in her position, and I will never be seen/treated by her again.
