At the UofL Health – Trager Transplant Center, more patients leave our center every year with a renewed lease on life than any other program in the region. One of the leading providers of advanced organ disease and transplantation care in the country, we make it our mission to improve and save lives.
Pioneering transplant care
We are nationally recognized for performing Kentucky’s first adult heart, pancreas, heart-lung and liver transplant. Our transplant team also was responsible for the first minimally invasive kidney donation in Kentucky. Today we continue to be a robust program and pride ourselves on providing individualized patient-centered care.
Within our Advanced Organ Disease and Transplant Center you will find some of the top academic, clinical and research based physicians and specialists in the nation. Our collaborative multidisciplinary teams include surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, infectious disease specialists, researchers, rehabilitation consultants, social workers, dietitians, psychiatrists, pharmacists and financial coordinators, who all bring a unique set of skills to the table.
We have one common goal: to help our patients and their families deal with both the challenges and new possibilities after a transplant.
Leaders in research, innovation and education results in outstanding care
Our researchers are continually analyzing innovative approaches to treating patients with the entire range of advanced organ disease to end-stage organ failure. In fact, our doctors help develop the national guidelines for the care of organ failure patients. And we offer cutting-edge clinical research trials to explore new treatments and procedures.
