In addition to caring for patients with cancer, our experts at UofL Health – Brown Cancer Center also treat patients who have blood disorders and other benign conditions.
Benign hematology covers a wide spectrum of disorders. Some are "benign," meaning they resolve with therapy or do not cause symptoms. Others are "chronic" and lifelong.
Examples of disorders that fall within benign hematology include:
- Anemias
- Hemophilia
- Low blood counts
- Von Willebrand's disease
- Blood clots
- Myelodysplastic syndrome
- Myeloproliferative diseases
Brown Cancer Center providers and other practices within UofL Health, such as UofL Physicians – Hemophilia Treatment Center, offer treatments and services for patients with a benign hematology condition.
